Peter Gordon
Peter Gordon

Peter co-founded Crest Capital in 2014. Prior to this, Peter was the head of the business reorganisation and recovery services division of Grant Thornton, South Africa. Before joining Grant Thornton, Peter ran his own successful consultancy practice, Crest Gordon Consulting (Pty) Limited, which he formed in 2004. Crest Capital provided corporate finance, business recovery and risk management advice to a wide variety of clients.

Peter’s experience ranges from project financing, financial structuring, risk evaluation, capital restructuring, company recoveries and turnarounds and mentoring. He has driven a number of high profile public and private company turnaround and recapitalisations, often involving management fraud and mismanagement.

Prior to forming Crest Gordon Consulting in 2004, Peter was an executive member of Absa Corporate & Merchant Bank (now Absa Capital) and carried executive responsibility for all Absa’s foreign operations at Board level.

Peter qualified as a chartered accountant in 1984. He left the region in 1987 moving to London where he worked in the financial sector for 9 years. He returned to South Africa in 1995 to join Absa.

David Paropoulos
David Paropoulos

David co-founded Crest Capital in 2014. Prior to this, David was a director in Grant Thornton Johannesburg’s corporate finance practice, where he headed up the national valuations team. Before joining Grant Thornton, David worked in Ernst and Young London’s transaction advisory services division where he advised private equity and corporate clients on business acquisitions and disposals.

David has worked on a wide variety of M&A assignments ranging from sales of small private companies to complex cross-border acquisitions by large, listed entities. David also has extensive valuation experience and has led a wide range of valuation assignments including valuations for business acquisitions and disposals, fairness opinions for JSE and TRP purposes, IFRS valuations and valuations for dispute resolution and divorce proceedings.

David has also taken the lead on other corporate finance assignments including due diligence reviews, feasibility studies, construction of financial models and group reorganisations.
